Nourishing is to feed us with the Lord's living word.

To cherish is to nurture

with a tender love and with tender care foster us

through warmth, outwardly soft'ning,

	So we may thus have soothing and

	comforting rest inwardly.

	Our Christ in this way cares for us,

	the church, His Body.

And also Paul nurtured

the believers as his own children:


"We were gentle in your midst as a nursing mother
would cherish her own children.
We were gentle in your midst as a nursing mother
would cherish her own children.
	Yearning in this way over you,
	we were well pleased to impart,
	to impart to you not only
	the gospel of God,
but also our own souls
because you became beloved to us."
