(Tune: Hymns, #958) 3-G G G7 C 1. On the sixth day of God's recov'ry on earth, G D God made a man after His own likeness-- G G7 C Formed of the dust, infused with God's living breath, G D G In His image--His glory to express. C D G Am7 C G But then man fell away from the tree of life, Em C Em Am7 D Dead, fleshly, poisoned, and rebellious, G C G Independent and sinful--now God's problem. Em C G G7 C D G But God would still attain His eternal purpose. 2. Though Satan tried to foil God and His purpose, God still continued dealing with this man-- Created race, and then the chosen, called race, But still no way to carry out His plan. And then in His recov'ry He moved again-- The surprise of the ages to reveal. The Lord stepped boldly into humanity; He became flesh and blood, Jesus, a Man so real. 3. In our manner, Christ partook of blood and flesh-- The Son of God yet in man embodied. Like us then tempted, yet He was without sin; Complete, yet through His suff'rings perfected. Obedient even to the death of a cross-- Hallelujah! Old Adam is deceased-- He resurrected with a real body, And thus He qualified to be our great High Priest. 4. In resurrection, Christ became the Spirit-- The breath of life to all who call His name. He recovered sinners to be sons of God; Now God's purpose into the full view came. He brought us back to eat of the tree of life; He's saving us from our fallen nature. We're partaking of His two natures mingled-- Divine and human--O this is salvation sure.
