(Tune: Hymns, #116) 1. Eternally God had a plan, A great economy, According to His heart's desire, With man to mingled be; In Genesis we clearly see The thought within God's mind: Red clay was in His image made, According to God's kind. 2. This human purely of God's kind, By subtle one misled, Did not partake of God as life-- Became mankind instead; His hobby God did not forsake; He joined Himself with man; In incarnation He was born-- The God-man life began. 3. His nat'ral life He crucified Upon the cross each day, And thus the attributes divine His human life displayed; In this He was our prototype, Our model marvellous; Like Him we must deny ourselves And let Him live through us. 4. With Christ in resurrection, we, His many twins, were born; As God-man kind we'll let Him now Our daily life transform. As seeds, we to the self must die-- Enjoyment's multiplied! We'll bring the last revival in, And match Him as His bride!
