January 18, 2003: Just the Christ

The UCLA CD 2002, entitled Just the Christ has finally been released. Send email to uclamusic @ yahoo . com for ordering information. The CD features several new songs written by Christians in Los Angeles, and I've posted some of them here at Come With Singing Unto Zion:

Always Rejoice
"Butterflies, God's Economy, and You"
"Life's Development For God's Purpose"
"Someday"
"We Were Gentle"

Another brother and I also recorded this little song for the CD; unfortunately, it was cut. By popular demand, I've posted it here for your enjoyment: Jesus Keeps Fallin' on My Head (MP3) ;-)

June 10, 2002: I passed!!

I found out today that I passed the qualifying exam, "by the skin of my teeth." But what counts is that I passed. I call that "optimum test-preparation skills." ;-)

Well!

Pages are getting a bit stale around here. It's May 2002, which means it's been almost a year since I last put some fresh content here. (Astute readers of this site will have noticed a few new links in Come With Singing Unto Zion, however.) The computer science qualifying exam is coming up, so I've been madly preparing for that. And the list of things to do in all my spare time one that is over (yeah, right) is also madly growing. But, I'll let you know what some of them are, and maybe then there will be some accountability.

  • Finish reading Return of the King (yes, for the first time!)
  • Major updates for Come With Singing Unto Zion. We recently had a recording session for the new 2002 UCLA CD, and a number of new songs will be featured. I hope to start publishing tunes for many of the songs here, in the ubiquitous Acrobat PDF.
  • Catch up in Bible reading. I'm more than 2 months behind!
  • Add more content to this site. Yes, I have plans for more. Who knows how long it will take to get it up, though?
  • The list goes on and on...

Back to studying...

What's in a name?

The name "eyewitness" is inspired from Jesus' word to His disciples in Acts 1:8, "You shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the earth" and also from Peter's word to his religious persecutors in Acts 5:20, "For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard." The Greek word for witness is equivalent to "martyr", indicating not just a death for a certain cause, but a living that bears the testimony of Another. The way Christ's disciples are His witnesses is not just by speaking. Rather, as they gaze on Christ they are infused with Him, filled with Him, permeated with Him, so that whatever they speak and do is a living testimony of the resurrected Christ.

As one who has received the Lord Jesus Christ, I cannot help but speak the things I have seen and heard. But I hope that they come across as words of reality, things that have been experienced, rather than mere teaching of doctrine. These pages (and they are forthcoming) attempt to convey the reality that I have found in the Bible and experienced in my Christian life. And I do intend to have fun while writing them, so I hope you enjoy reading them, too.
